can i pick hazelnuts from the tree and let them ripen inside?
I have a tree on my property in the Seattle, WA area. I’m concerned that the squirrels will get to the nuts before they have a chance to ripen on the tree. Can I pick some now, in mid-August, and set them inside on a window sill to ripen, or will that ruin them. Thanks for your help as really have no idea. Also, from what I’ve read these are described as bushes that reach 5 feet tall; my tree was neglected by previous owners and is closer to 15 – 20 feet tall!!
